Neglect

I can't believe it's been a year since my last post.  Boy how the time flies.

I've been using two Nikon d700's for all of my work in 2013.  Even though they both have close to 100,000 clicks on them, I don't want to replace them.  The latest Nikon offerings don't impress me enough.

D600 / 610 - max speed of 1/4000 and sync speed of 1/200
D800 - it's a beast, I don't want to upgrade my computer just to handle the enormous files.  Otherwise a fantastic camera.

I've acquired the Nikon v1, Samsung NX20, Nikon d7100 and d5100 this year.  The d5100 was for some video fun (review that later), the others were for an upcoming safari and general travel camera.  They will be put to use shortly and reviewed after that.  Only having them for 5 days, here are the highlights.

v1 - 2.7x crop factor, so my 400mm is now 1080mm!
60 full res frames a second... yes, 60!
silent shutter
great autofocus

NX20 - use cell phone for viewfinder
10 frames a second
great layout, and swivel screen
sweep panorama
decent autofocus
decent lens lineup

d7100 - haven't played with much, but bought it for it's dslr layout (which I'm most comfortable with), great resolution and dynamic range. It can use my entire lens lineup (unlike the d5100).
